Puerto Maldonado is a city in southeastern Peru in the Amazon rainforest 55 kilometres (34 mi) west of the Bolivian border; located at the confluence of the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers, the latter of which joins the Madeira River as a tributary of the Amazon. It is the capital of the Madre de Dios Region.

Itinerary
The exciting adventure begins in Puerto Maldonado, where we’ll stay in a comfortable lodge. We’ll visit a botanical garden, take a tour of the aguajal swamp, and end the day with a canopy experience.
At dawn, we’ll head to the dock for the Cachuela Clay Lick, where we’ll observe parrots and parakeets feeding on clay. After breakfast, we’ll sail down the Madre de Dios River to the Tambopata National Reserve. We’ll hike to Sandoval Lake, where we’ll spot various animals, and then sail in search of giant otters and caimans.
